Tag archive pages are free landing pages. How to turn HubSpot blog categories into topic hubs: consistent tagging, internal links, anchor navigation, and a listing page that routes readers.
Every blog tag you create ships with a free landing page. Most sites let those pages rot: an unstyled list, no intro copy, no links pointing at them. Treated deliberately, they become topic hubs — pages that rank for category-level keywords, not just individual post titles.
Pick few categories, tag consistently
A hub only accumulates authority if posts keep landing on it. Five categories with steady traffic beat twenty ghost towns. Give every post exactly one category tag, and keep secondary topic tags separate so archives stay clean.
Route readers from the listing page
A single reverse-chronological feed buries everything older than a month. Show a short feed per category on the blog home instead, each linking to its tag archive. The reader who wants tutorials gets tutorials; the archive page collects the clicks — and internal links are votes.
Link to hubs, not just posts
When a post mentions a topic you cover often, link the phrase to the tag archive rather than one arbitrary post. Product pages, service pages, and email footers can all point at hubs too. A page with twenty internal links pointing at it outranks a page with none.
Make the URLs part of your navigation
Anchor and tag URLs are shareable infrastructure: /blog/tag/guides-tutorials belongs in your nav, your onboarding emails, and your sales follow-ups. If a URL is worth sending to a customer, it is worth optimizing.
We built this exact structure on our own blog — see it running, or read why tag-based categories beat one feed.
